If Aliens Invaded Earth: 10 Cinematic Aliens People Pray They’d Never Be

If aliens ever decided to invade Earth, it’s safe to say that people would be more than a little concerned. Hollywood has long been fascinated with the idea of extraterrestrial life and has created many alien creatures ranging from the friendly to the downright scary. According to a film forum, these are the 10 most feared cinematic alien species.
1. Xenomorphs (Alien 1979)

The Xenomorphs are a species of aggressive, parasitic, and highly adaptable creatures known for their intelligence, physical strength, and terrifying appearance. They are known for their ability to lay eggs inside human hosts, which then hatch and use the host’s body as a breeding ground for more Xenomorphs. Furthermore, they have a vicious and unstoppable nature, so their arrival would be a nightmare come to life.
2. The Thing (The Thing 1982)

The Thing is a shape-shifting alien species capable of taking on the form of any living being it comes into contact with. It is a ruthless predator that seeks to assimilate all life forms in its path. People would fear them due to their ability to imitate humans and their tendency to cause paranoia and mistrust among those it infects.
3. Kryptonians (Superman 1978)

Kryptonians are a humanoid alien species with superhuman abilities such as flight, super-strength, and laser vision. They are known for their ability to survive in harsh environments and their advanced technology. They have immense power and the potential to cause destruction, making defeating them problematic.
4. The Borg (Star Trek: First Contact 1996)

The Borg is a collective of cybernetically enhanced humanoid aliens who seek to assimilate all other species into their collective consciousness. They are known for their relentless pursuit of technological perfection and ability to adapt to any situation. Their ability to assimilate and control other beings and their vast technological resources enable them to launch psychological warfare against the human race.
5. Mimics (Edge of Tomorrow 2014)

Mimics are a species of intelligent, telepathic aliens that have invaded Earth to exterminate humanity. They can reset time, allowing them to predict and counter human actions. Can you imagine having an extraterrestrial enemy that can anticipate your every next move?
6. The Harvesters (Independence Day 1996)

The Harvesters are a highly advanced alien species that travel the universe in massive motherships, harvesting the resources of other planets, including Earth. They are known for their powerful weapons and shields and their ability to coordinate large-scale attacks. Humans would be wary of them due to their massive technology and destructive capabilities.
7. The Martians (War of the Worlds 2005)

The Martians invade Earth in large tripod-like machines equipped with powerful weapons and shields. They can regenerate and adapt to Earth’s environment. Their technological superiority would outmatch any human weapons we would use to battle them.
These aliens traumatized me the most as a kid, with their beams of light that instantly vaporized humans or their long octopus-like claws that grab humans and trap them in cages, where they’re picked one by one to harvest their blood. Literally blood-curdling stuff!
8. Martians From Mars Attacks! (1996)

The Martians from Mars Attacks! are a comical but deadly species that come to Earth in flying saucers, intent on destroying humanity for no apparent reason. They are known for their zany, colorful appearance and ability to use advanced technology to attack and destroy entire cities. People would be afraid of them due to their unpredictable and chaotic nature.
9. The Pod People (Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1956)

The Pod People are a species of alien plants that replace humans by creating perfect duplicates of them while they sleep. The duplicates lack human emotions and free will, allowing the aliens to take over the world without anyone realizing it.
Their ability to infiltrate and control human society without being detected is sheer horror. It resembles the philosophical concept of “p-zombies,” which is the notion that we can’t be sure that anyone outside of ourselves is truly conscious.
10. Calvin of Mars (Life 2017)

Finally, Calvin is a single-celled organism discovered on Mars that quickly grows into a highly intelligent and deadly creature. It can learn and adapt at an alarming rate, making it a formidable and almost unbeatable foe. The creature starts as a tiny single-celled organism that quickly evolves and grows in size, intelligence, and aggression.
It’s capable of killing, and it does so without any hesitation or remorse. In Life, they mean to launch Calvin far off into deep space but mistakenly send one of their own astronauts as Calvin is delivered to Earth. The final scene, where the rescue team approaches the pod that Calvin is stored in, implies that Calvin’s arrival on Earth foreshadows the end of humanity.
