Animals Can “Talk”: 12 True Stories From People Who Have Had Encounters

Do you believe animals can talk, not just to each other but to humans? There are plenty of stories across the Internet sharing cross-species communication. Here are 12 honest revelations as told in one online forum. Have you ever had such an encounter yourself?

One theme park staff member recounts walking past the mammals’ section, where she encountered a dolphin thrashing about furiously in the pool. The dolphin stopped to look at her and said, “Help me.” The staff member said she immediately ran to her boss’s office to report the encounter.
The poor creature passed away shortly after. An autopsy later revealed she was also pregnant.
2. Assertive Alaskan Canines

Another person reflects on their grandparents’ Alaskan Malamute and how grandma always swore she could talk. Both granddad and grandchild dismissed it until one day, while trying to get the canine to go inside the shed, she turned to them both and responded, “I don’t want to.” And that was it. She never had to go into the shed again.
3. Talking Dogs Never Grow Old

One person is convinced a dog once said “Hi” to them as a teenager, a story backed up by their two siblings. “I remember the dog wasn’t scary at all,” explains the storyteller. “I don’t have more info and never knew someone who could speak with animals.”
4. Donkeys Know

“When you look into a donkey’s eyes, you can see them thinking and knowing,” claims one person. They have an ability to sense happiness or reticence.
5. Cat Lady

Another heartwarming tale involves a woman who, at 20 years old, had a cat named Sparky which she swears called her “Mommy” telepathically in a “human-type high-pitched voice.” As far-fetched as it sounds, she is still adamant this happened. “I know what I heard,” concludes the cat lover. “I know what happened that evening.”
6. Jasper, The Telepathic Tabby

Another cat cradler speaks of a telepathic experience with her feline. This time, before adopting an “adorable tabby,” the shelter owner asked her what she would name the kitten. No sooner had she seen the photo than she named it “Jasper.”
However, she showed her husband the photo and asked him to guess the name. “It’s not Jasper, is it?” was his response. “I absolutely believe that animals can, will, and do talk to humans,” says Jasper’s forever mom.
7. Lucid Dreaming With Spirit Bears

At seven years old, one person claims a giant black bear came to them in a dream as they walked through a “virgin pine” forest. “Then he said he was here to help me, that he was my spirit guide, and why did I look so scared,” recalls the now grown-up observer.
I imagine facing a bear in dreams must be as scary as the same thing.
8. Forbidding Lambs

Walking through the English countryside with his family one spring day, a young man encountered a flock of lambs. The whole family navigated the pasture, mindful of the young creatures in their path.
The whole field was alive with the sound of calling lambs and their bleating mothers when suddenly, a nearby lamb made a human sound. I swear it said, “Get away,” in a sheep’s glottal voice. “My brother and I couldn’t stop laughing the entire journey home.”
9. A Wise Raven

One military veteran recalls a conversation with a “Mojave raven” as an active member. After the raven asked him why he was there, he recalls “feeling lucky, amazed, and elated” that the bird had chosen to speak to him. However, there is a catch: “Also, I hadn’t slept in four days, so it’s possible I was hallucinating.”
10. A Mouthy Magpie

Another person claims their “great aunt” revealed that their grandmother once owned a magpie that could talk. “I thought she was going senile until my dad confirmed it,” says the contributor. “Apparently, it was named ‘Trouble’ because it would walk around muttering, ‘Trouble-trouble, nothing but trouble.'”
