The Best Books I’ve Read Recently

Reading has always been a safe space for me, and I’m usually multiple books deep at one time. I totally have a type of book I’m drawn to. I love self-help books for women and spiritual self-help books. I’m obsessed with all things that have to do with connecting to loved ones on the other side and becoming my best self in this life. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I lost my Dad in 2019 and then my dog in 2021, and reading truly helped me find some peace.

The internet often feels like a rabbit hole of ideas. You start off looking for one thing and end up getting lost in a world of inspiration. It’s the same with books — you think you’re going to read one, but before you know it, you’ve picked up three other titles that look equally appealing. So, if you’re looking for some new spiritual or soulful reads to dive into this year, look no further! These ten books are perfect for anyone looking to reflect on their lives and find some peace and purpose.

1. Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss, M.D.

Based on a true story, a psychiatrist tells the story of one of his client’s past-life regressions. This book was mind-opening and really got me thinking about reincarnation. It was also extremely healing. What are we carrying from a past life we don’t even realize? If you’re curious about past lives, you’ll love this book.

2. The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer

Western society is full of go, go, go and do, do, do. But what if we could tap into a “flow” by ditching the ego that would lead us to living a life beyond our wildest dreams? I couldn’t get enough reading about the author’s spiritual awakening and how we can follow our own spiritual flow.

Singer is really in to meditation.

3. The Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer

I really meant it when I said I couldn’t get enough while reading The Untethered Soul – so I read Singer’s next book. The Surrender Experiment is a captivating story of letting go and trusting a higher power, and being in spiritual harmony.

Both of Singer’s books have helped me let go and go with the flow of life more.

4. Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein

Yes, the more you focus on feeling good and being positive, the more all that good energy comes back to you! This book teaches us to focus on good feeling emotions and experiences in life. In return, likeness attracts likeness.

This book has changed my life…

5. The Law of Divine Compensation by Marianne Williamson

This is a powerful spiritual book based on love, money, work, and miracles. There is a divine power of abundance, and this book teaches you how to unleash that power.

6. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

Wait, clutter has bad energy?! That makes sense. This book gave me permission to start letting go of things that don’t serve me anymore. I bet you’ll feel the same.

We’re all about attracting high vibes in this household. And honestly, it has felt way good to let go of material possessions that were taking up space and not serving a purpose.

7. The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein

Yes, I’m team Gabby over here. The title of this book is everything. The Universe DOES have your back, and Gabby will tell you all about it. It’s OK to stop stressing and trust in a higher power, spirit guides, and guardian angels to help you live your best life. You’ll stop living in fear – and live in faith.

8. Medium Mentor by MaryAnn DiMarco

Just WOW. Everyone has the ability to connect with loved ones and spirit guides on the other side. It’s not just for psychics and mediums. This book talks about trusting your intuition. MaryAnn gives step-by-step instructions on exactly how to cultivate this practice. It’s beautiful, packed with love and healing.

9. Happy Days by Gabrielle Bernstein

This is a soulful read. What I love most about Gabby’s books is the reminder to lean into love to live a happy and peaceful life. She’s honest, authentic, and relatable in all of her books. Even when bad things happen to us, looking at them as things that needed to happen so we could grow into being our best selves is thought-provoking. She’s one of my favorite authors, and I enjoy all of her self-love books for women.

10. The Amazing Afterlife of Animals by Karen A Anderson

I literally binge-read this book in a day; it was that good. After Sunny passed away, I was searching for something to soothe the pain from his death. My Mom sent me this book, and it made a significant difference in my grief journey. The book is thought-provoking, full of love, and incredibly healing.

Final Thoughts

I often find books give me a different perspective on life (along with traveling and being outdoors).

All the authors above speak to what I think the world is looking for as a collective whole – a greater good, positive energy, being our best selves, living our best lives, and the mystery of life after death.

You probably noticed that Gabrielle Bernstein made my list of favorite books a few times. She has been a massive inspiration for me in pursuing the blog and taking a leap of faith to start my own small business! I use her card decks every day while I’m drinking coffee. The card decks are fun and bring inspiration to the day. I like sharing things that help me and I want to inspire others.

Whether you find yourself reaching for one of these books this year or later down the road, I know you will get personal growth insight and something interesting from them.

They are all soulful good reads and, frankly, life-changing.
